Artist Bio

Julia Finucane is a pop surrealist, fantasy artist living in New York. Her artwork is inspired by victorian porcelain dolls, fairy tales, and the tales of her ancestors past. Each painting has a story behind it where she creates her own little fantasy world.

Interested enchantment since she was a young child, her first memories are of her father reading books of Fairy Tales and Irish folklore or visiting the art galleries in her city. She believed in these whimsical characters and hoped that the magic of them could come true. Today Julia knows that fantasy and magic does exist, as long as you believe.

"I have had a love for fantasy, fairy tales, and cute little girly dolls since I was young. I can remember reading Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, and the Brothers Grimm with my father. I still love this fantasy world and try to represent it in each each piece of art. All my pieces have stories behind them, but I encourage everyone to interpret their own stories." ~ Julia Finucane

Julia studied fine arts, design, and art education at The State University College at Buffalo, receiving a Bachelor of Science and later a Master of Science in fine arts, website design, and computer education. During college, she taught art to children in one of the city's community centers which won her a community arts award. Julia also studied the many world religions and spirituality, a subject that is ever fascinateing to her.

After graduating, Julia moved to New York City where she expanded her love of art & culture. Here she learned to "sell art on the streets" and dived right in as an artist in NYC. Julia's work has been displayed in galleries, art festivals, and online publications.

Julia worked as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Impact Artists Gallery in NY and was on the Board of Evolution,  New Yorks Wearable Art Fashion Show. Julia is also currently the leader of the Witches of Etsy, a team of over 2,000 artist and crafters.
