About Julia Finucane
Julia is an artist and mom living in Buffalo, New York. A true city gal at heart; she loves the many cultures and people a city has to offer. She currently lives in an old home filled with lots of history and energy. It sits next to a cemetery from the 1800's which Julia finds to be peaceful.
Julia says,
"I burn wax, play with plants, brew oils, hug trees, and paint."
"I have always loved the fantasy world, enchantment, & magic. My first memories, are of my father reading to me books of fairy tale stories and Irish folklore. Intrigued by these whimsical storybook characters and hoping that the magic of them could come true, I soon found out that fantasy & magic does exist as long as you believe in it."
"I love creating and sharing my handmade items with you. My images are inspired by porcelain dolls, the fantasy world, and whimsical enchantment. Each piece has a story behind it, where I create my own little fantasy world filled with magic and beauty."
Julia studied fine arts, design, and art education at The State University College at Buffalo, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and later a Master of Science in fine arts and design education. During college, she taught art to children in one of the city's community centers which won her a community arts award. Julia also studied the many world religions and spirituality, a subject that is ever fascinating to her. Julia decided to enhance her knowledge of the metaphysical world and continued her studies after college. She studied the art of Tarot, dream interpretation, past life regression, herbalism, and began incorporating her knowledge to help others.
After graduating, Julia moved to New York City where she expanded her love of art, culture, and spirituality. Here she learned to "sell art on the streets" and dove right in as an artist in NYC. Julia also started reading Tarot professionally, something she has a strong passion for. She experimented with different artistic mediums and took her love of handcrafting candles, oils, art, and ritual items to the next level and branded Two Cats Witchery in 2015.
Julia's artwork and metaphysical products have been displayed in galleries, art festivals, art fashion shows, gift shops, and online publications around the world. Julia worked as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Impact Artists Gallery in NYS and was on the Board of Evolution, one of New York's largest Wearable Art Fashion Show.
Julia is currently serving on the Visual and Performing Arts board in the City of Tonawanda, New York. One of the boards main objectives is to bring art and beauty around the city. Julia helped bring art in the neighborhood by painting a city utility box and painting a section of a group mural at the local historical society. Julia latest project, was a solo mural which was unveiled Summer of 2023. The mural is of butterfly wings which encourages tourism to the City's waterfront area.
